Almardiente Flamenco was officially established in 2002 after the departure of their Flamenco Professor, Artistic Director and friend Liliana DeLeon Torsiello to Arizona. It was in Liliana's Flamenco class at UCLA's department of World Arts and Cultures that Almardiente first met and began dancing together under the name of DeLiRitmo. While in DeLiRitmo, these dancers learned about Flamenco history, culture and dance, as well as further enhancing their already vast choreography and performance experience. Flamenco became a way of life, and it was with this in mind that Almardiente came into being. Instead of breaking up DeLi Ritmo, they took on a new name, and the challenge of directing themselves. Though each dancer's path towards Flamenco "Duende," has been different, Almardiente is still together and going strong performing at the most prominent venues in the Los Angeles area!
